Summertime Cocktail Fig Blood Orange Margarita must-have
I love me a margarita. Something about that tequila. So when Kelby from TypeA Parent told me about a must have fig blood orange margarita I was all over it. Oh my dear word. This margarita. Amazing. Perfect blend of sweet and tang. Life changing. Well. When it comes to cocktails. I mean we all know a cocktail is not going to change your life. Right? Feeling suddenly insecure.
Anyway. How do you make this margarita masterpiece? I thought you would never ask. (printable recipe at the end)
This margarita. Amazing!
First gather all your ingredients, a glass and a cocktail shaker. *note. you do not need to set them up on a pretty plate - but it may enhance the flavor* The tequila. Before I met Kelby I was content with my Jose Cuervo. I figured if county singers sang about it, it was ok with me. But Kelby insisted I upgrade. Whoa. So smooth. And so.much.better. It's pricey. But worth it. Make your fig, brown sugar simple syrup. I heated the water in a measuring cup - added the sugar and fig preserves and stirred until dissolved. Cut the blood oranges in half. Save some for garnish if you want to be fancy. Then squeeze the life out of them into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add your simple syrup mix and the tequila. Now shake it baby. Rub the rim of your glasses with the orange rinds to make them a bit sticky. Then rub the rim in a plate of brown sugar. So pretty! Pour. Garnish. And enjoy. Amazing right? Insane. Even if you are not a tequila lover this might convince you otherwise. Of course. Drink responsibly! Do you have a favorite summertime cocktail? Did you try the margarita?
