Embrace your curls - Love Your Hair - my new Favorite Thing
Be honest. Who loves their hair? Too curly. Too straight. Too short. Too long.
We are rarely satisfied.
Or maybe it's just me? The curls seemed to spring forth from my head soon after birth. Cute as a baby. Unruly as a toddler. And oh, the tangles. My mother raised her white flag and finally gave up. She cut it off.
I share this with you...because I trust you!
Strangely, it came back straight-ish. But then, it remembered it's former rebellious self and decided to return...with a vengeance. And, I hated it.
The high school and college years were a battle - for many reasons. But I just wanted to be "like everyone else". I tried straightening. I spent money on product. I wore hats....seriously. Anything.
Have a painted the picture correctly?
So now you will realize that when I endorse a product that makes my curls the way I dreamt they could be...after ALL these years....THIS...my friends, is a very big deal!
When my Birchbox arrived last week, my skeptical mind said "oh great, another curly hair product...meh." But hey, what did I have to lose?
I washed and conditioned my hair, then added a dollop of Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls - nothing else - and I scrunched. Okay, I am so not exaggerating when I say it already looked better. It was actually scrunching. My hair can be so stubborn.
yes I look unhappy. would you be happy taking a picture of yourself with wet hair? didn't think so.
I decided to take it up a notch, and grabbed my diffuser. Do I know how to party or what?
upside down hair.
End result. My hair curled. Not just the top, or the bottom. Not just certain parts. It curled. All of it. Soft, not frizzy curls.
SHUT UP!
I was stoked to say the least.
And let me tell you NO ONE, could believe my hair was that curly. All my friends kept asking me what I did. Seriously.
And this is what it looks like after waking up and doing NOTHING...three days later. (Now don't be all grossed out, us curly haired girls cannot wash our hair too much - it doesn't like it. Trust me, no oil in hair. Are we clear? :)
Miss. Jessie seems to have several other curly hair products available. I can't vouch for anything but the Pillow Soft Curls, but I sure am going to give them all a try.
Hi, my name is Lisa, and it has taken me the best part of 40 years to embrace my curls.
Thank you Birchbox, and thank you Miss. Jessie. I am forever grateful!
Do you have a hair "woe"?
A favorite hair product?
If so, I'd love to know your secret weapons!
