First Day of High School and my birthday week

First Day of High School and my birthday week
It's here. I can hardly believe it. My oldest daughter starts high school today.
anneke 1st day of high school
Technically she is homeschooled, but on Monday's she and her sisters take classes with other homeschooled kids. Classes that either I don't care to teach, or fun electives! For instance, Anneke is taking Spanish, Novel Writing and Drawing.
But today I am mostly overwhelmed with the fact that I have a daughter who is old enough to be in high school. High school!
And who am I to think that I could even dream of homeschooling her for high school. I said I would never do that. I swore! In reality I never set out to homeschool at all in the first place! But that is another story for another time.
But this decision did not come lightly for her. She listed pros and cons. She contemplated. She agonized. She prayed. And ultimately she feels as if this is the best decision for her. Who am I to argue?
But yet, I feel vastly ill equipped. Terribly under qualified. And quite frankly scared to death!
What if?
This is high school. You know, the time you prep for college? For adulthood? For scholarships?
But then I am reminded. I did get her this far. I am so proud of the young woman she is becoming. Intelligent. Compassionate. Witty. Gifted. Beautiful.
And ultimately she really isn't mine, is she? She belongs to the One who created her, and she knows it! On her finger is my Hebrew ring that says, Child of God. I love that she wanted one. I love that she wears it everyday.
So I will do my very best, that's all I can do.
On another note, it's my birthday week. I will be doing some fun giveaways and sales and specials so that you can celebrate WITH me! For today, I am giving away one Hebrew ring!
All you need to do is leave a comment with one thing you remember from YOUR first day of high school. That's it! Oh, and don't forget to leave an email, so I can let you know if you are the WINNER!
